About Homi
We are a team of teachers, software engineers, illustrators and internet professionals solving a problem we faced as students ourselves: Memorizing lessons.
Why Build Homi
As students, we had struggled with memorizing lessons.
When we learned about visual mnemonics, or picture stories, and how incredibly effective they are, we knew we had to help students like us who face the same problems we did in our academic life.
Learning aids, such as picture stories or homigrams as we like to call them, can greatly reduce stress and anxiety, frequently taking hold of students as exams approach.
At the same time, being able to score good grades boosts children’s self-esteem. It can also free up their time to pursue hobbies and socialise, leading to healthy emotional growth and well-rounded development.
A Test with Students -Students Doubled their Scoresusing Homigrams
In July 2022, we conducted a test with 19 students to check the effectiveness of homigrams, or picture stories. We gave them four long answers from CBSE class 10 Social Sciences to memorize in a time-bound test. Two of those answers were text-based, and the other two were supported by homigrams.
We saw that the students scored double the marks in the homigram-supported answers compared to the marks they scored in the text-based ones.
