The technological and institutional reforms made in the field of agriculture in India

  1. Land reforms such as collectivisation, cooperation, consolidation and abolition of zamindari were enacted to counter fragmentation caused by right of inheritance.
  2. Issuing of Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (PAIS) and Kisan Credit Cards (KCC)
  3. Agricultural reforms – White Revolution (Operation Flood), Green Revolution with Package Technology.
  4. Special weather bulletins and agricultural programs were introduced on the radio and television.
  5. Provision for crop insurance against drought, flood, cyclone, fire and disease. Establishment of Grameen banks and cooperative societies for providing loan facilities to the farmers at lower rates of interest.
  6. The government also announced minimum support price, remunerative and procurement prices for important crops to check the exploitation of farmers by speculators and middlemen.
